Summary of CHAPTER 10:
Materiality - Fine & Coarse

Now, in penetrating the last major veil of obscurity, and revealing the full range and scale of cosmic materiality ... our subject can begin more completely to experience and appreciate his relationship with the cosmos. [page 131]

His mind now beginning to encompass materiality on its finest levels, corresponding to the incredibly fine texture of objective consciousness, our subject can feel secure in allowing the matter of his body .... to commune directly with its own element. [page 131]

... the simultaneous transformation of subjective consciousness to objective consciousness, involves new, symmetrical changes in the way our subject experiences the world and himself as the two merge and integrate. [page 132]

Just as various combustive processes tend to give off unequal amounts of light and heat, the flame of consciousness, owing to its imperfection and incompleteness, produces the feeling of pleasure, albeit sublime and potent. [page 133]

In the way of righteousness there is life; along that path is immortality. (Proverbs 12:28)

The discovery of meaning or, more correctly, our becoming aware of meaning in the cosmos, has been shown to have two principal effects ... [page 133]

Objective consciousness means that the world becomes an integral part of our presence. ... we have become a unified awareness - pure intelligence - we need no longer be limited to an awareness of ourselves as entities (not even as conscious entities). [page 133]

...when, through the insight provided by Accelerated Thought, some important problem is solved or some secret of nature is revealed, matter has a little less of a hold on us. [page 135]

This is the whole difference between conventional science and the effects of breakthroughs that predominate when the mind is freed to work at its "natural," accelerated rhythm. [page 135]

Small visions lead to larger ones until the plasma-like flame of our subject's subjective consciousness begins to transform into a controlled fusion type reaction, which is the first stable phenomenon of objective consciousness. ... Now, thought clears and accelerates considerably to an entirely new energy level... [page 135]

But it is inevitable, even at this advanced stage of the process, that after a lifetime of conditioning to distraction, part of the subject's psyche not yet integrated within consciousness will remain vulnerable to the forces of conventionality and will continue to be identified with matter. [page 136]

Commit to the Lord in whatever you do. (Proverbs 16:3)

From the beginning, such an adventure implies the total involvement of the subject. No partial commitment could possibly initiate or sustain Accelerated Thought. [page 137]

For even in the face of our subject's ardor and conviction, how could they possibly suspect the true nature of the mind confronting them or the metamorphosis it is undergoing? [page 137]

And yet not to share the truth, bliss and passion with which he is bursting is almost unthinkable. After all, from where he stands how could others refuse to see what now, to him, is so decidedly and luminously true? [page 137-138]

Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life. (Proverbs 4:23)

The time has come to consider, a little more closely, the content of thought and feeling. [page 138]

There must be feedback loops between thought and feeling and between feeling and action (i.e., the body's motor functions) since if an idea is insufficiently adapted to one's sensibilities, it is sent back "upstairs" for adjustment. [page 139]

Feeling, in its turn (and, to a degree, in parallel with its exchanges with thought), speaks to the body through the intermediary of bodily sensation. [page 139]

... the energy of anticipation, released through the mechanism of feeling, is a function of vision coming through the intellect - ... This form of revelation is taken by feeling and is communicated to the body as an imminent reality. [page 139]

... the very substance of the cosmos, including "empty" space itself, contains many levels of energy more or less accessible to man. Our ability to plug into cosmic reservoirs of energy is a function of our ability to release the energy that separates one level of materiality from another. [page 139]

If we know with absolute certainty that everything our heart and soul desires - everything that man has ever dreamed of - depends on a given act, we will be able, for the brief moment necessary for that act, to summon superhuman abilities. [page 140]
