PROJECT MIND
Summary of Introduction:This book is written in the name of man's love of life and, more specifically, the guardian spirit of that love which lies dormant, undefined and undeveloped throughout much of mankind. ... By using the highest forms of intelligence, courage and skill man can begin the sacred task of dissolving that which separates him from the fulfillment of his most cherished desires, including the desire for eternal life. [page vii]Project Mind is about possibilities -- real, human possibilities. It addresses the ultimate in man and his hidden capacities. Through an intelligence which for the moment lies dormant, mankind is destined to acquire a degree of mastery over the matter of this world ... This yet-to-be-revealed intelligence is in fact unlimited. [page ix] Anyone who has had even a furtive glimpse into his own inner process of creativity has been amazed by the power lying quiescent inside. The lasting impression of such a glimpse can provide the impetus for many an adventure into art, science, mysticism, and religion. [page ix] Creative energy is elusive...It is not easy to split the atom, let alone set off a chain reaction. Yet analogically this is what must be done if the mind-power bottled within the human essence is to be released. [page ix, x] In the rare cases, where one directs one's effort at a problem of extreme
personal significance, the energy level at the moment of illumination spills
over, throwing light upon other, seemingly unrelated questions. [page x]
Among the restrictions weighing upon my spirit that led me to the plan outlined in this book were the multifarious human manifestations of pettiness, narrow-mindedness, shallowness and short-sightedness . . . these stem entirely from material limitations. The form of limitation most commonly encountered is the lack of "cold cash." Yet, there is another that affects us all, . . . before we are fully introduced to the world of money, property . . . [page xi] We need a critical mass--a handful of competent researcher-visionaries--to release us from the prison of cosmic restriction and convention. Only then will the mass of men recognize that the cosmos is 99.99% spirit, the matter component constituting the mere shell of reality. [page xi] One of the main hypotheses underlying this book is that the deepest and most individuating aspects of essence are inaccessible by traditional techniques. According to one's degree of spiritual accomplishment, such techniques tend to penetrate only our superficial layers. [page xiv-xv] Project Mind -- the "book" -- elucidates the why and how of Accelerated Thought and the role of Project Mind -- the project. [page xvi] Just as the Eureka experience provides brief moments of brilliant insight--the divine sparks of genius and inspiration that have fueled the sudden advances in scientific progress until now -- Accelerated Thought will provide sustained creative vision. This will establish an ongoing link with higher consciousness, producing a powerful cosmic current channeled through human essence (man's fundamental form and substance) from a higher dimension to fuel the transformatory breakthrough science of the future and render it holistic and comprehensive. [page xvi] Accelerated Thought will, within a few years, produce such material abundance that the pursuit of material wealth will lose all meaning. Not only will material lack, deprivation and suffering disappear from the human landscape, but greed, envy, pettiness, sloth, vice and depravity, induced in us by overindulgence and by the kind of competition that tends to turn us all into adversaries, will become irrelevant and vanish. [page xvii] . . . existence is 99.99% spiritual and only 0.01% physical . . . we are all brothers in that spirit. Our fraternity, . . . is based not only on equality and the shared commonalities of our Being as is normally believed, but, more cogently, on the interdependence of our unique and varied individualities. These individualities persist in finding expression mostly through such neurotic ego-phenomena as false personality, authoritarianism, careerism, racism, and fetishes and fanaticisms of all varieties. [page xvii] Project Mind will prove the "essence" theory of intelligence. Accelerated Thought will be shown to be the manifestation of inborn genius sequestered within the essence-desire of every human being. [page xvii] To generate the ultimate expression of individuality is to release the incredible potential hidden at the deepest levels within essence and reveal the relationship of essence to consciousness, reality and truth. [page xvii] The pioneers of Accelerated Thought will be those whose adult integrity
and individuality have been built upon the act of heroic courage in childhood
to say "the emperor is naked," and who sustained their belief in the utopian
vision of fairy tales. [page xviii]
