HOLISTIC SCIENCE Most of humankind's troubles can be traced to our lack of knowledge of the world around us, and more specifically, to the obscure and highly complex nature of matter that is so highly resistant to investigation, in spite of science's efforts. Basically, scientists, using knowledge, intuition and sparks of creativity frame hypotheses which are then verified by experiment and observation. Presently, overwhelming emphasis and importance is placed on the mechanisims for validating hypotheses (ie, instrumentation and methodology), rather than on the creative vision of the scientist, which, when sufficiently holistic, carries largely within it the means for its own validation. Through a higher more conscious form of creativity called "Accelerated Thought", the complex nature of matter can be penetrated to produce encompassing and integrated holistic scientific and technological breakthrough solutions to the problems troubling humanity. The integration needed, external and internal, requires an incomparably more intense confrontation between the spirit of the researcher and the natural phenomena he is contemplating than what is currently practiced by even the most zealous of researchers. This modality of creative effort is evoked in the literature describing the stunningly innovative and comprehensive scientific visions of Tesla, McClintock and others. We seek the candidates for Accelerated Thought. |

Who Are the Candidates for Accelerated Thought?
Introduction The secret of Project Mind is its understanding of the fundamental importance and dignity of essential individuality. To generate the ultimate expression of individuality is to release the incredible creative potential hidden in the deepest levels of essence. Accelerated Thought, as a function of objective consciousness, will ultimately penetrate the deepest secrets of material reality and lead to the universal elimination of lack, illness and aging - in short, vulnerability and materialistic attachment - from the earth. Provisions will be made for the care and lodging of participants and for remuneration to help compensate for family and other responsibilities that will be neglected. Isolation is a necessary condition to prevent outside influence on the candidate's efforts to generate the concentration and total ideational saturation needed to induce the higher creative state of Accelerated Thought. Back to contents Accelerated Thought Accelerated Thought is a high-energy mental process whereby realizations (consisting of problems and solutions) arrive, second by second, in rapid-fire sequence rather than once a week, once a year or once in a lifetime as is typical with Eureka experiences. Project Mind is based on the premise that it is possible to arrange conditions favoring the occurrence of Eureka experiences as precursors to Accelerated Thought. This induction process and Accelerated thought itself can be maintained, contained, modulated and ultimately harnessed to the benefit of mankind[2]. This higher, creative state has long been the fondest dream of many professionals in the creativity field. Although the Eureka experience is not exactly Accelerated Thought, it is very closely related, and its habitual exercise is the trademark of creative genius. Just as, to a prepared mind, a salutary shock can at the right moment produce a Eureka experience, a series of Eureka experiences can under favorable conditions induce, in a properly prepared psyche, a chain reaction which can develop into Accelerated Thought. The intensity of this experience is accompanied by a spectacular increase in vitality and a feeling of elation. There is an accumulation of awareness for real possibilities that lifts the mind and the individual as a whole (for in these moments he is mind) to a more integrated and conscious level of functioning than before. Increased integration and increased energy are but two sides of one coin - the coin of consciousness. Just as brief Eureka experiences provide moments of brilliant insight - the divine sparks of genius and inspiration that have fueled the sudden advances in scientific progress until now - Accelerated Thought will provide a far more intense and sustained form of creative vision. This will establish an ongoing link with higher (objective) consciousness producing a powerful cosmic current channeled through human essence (man's fundamental form and substance) from a higher dimension to fuel the transformatory breakthrough science of the future and render it holistic and comprehensive.
Effort Thus the chief limiting factor concerns our ability to learn about the phenomenon that interests us and that boils down to the effort of observation and the motivation needed to fuel it. The fuel of observation is the essence-desire that creates a link of attention between ourselves and the phenomenon studied. The quality of that link depends on its strength and derives from the strength of the intention that sustains it. Thus it is "desire" or "will" that determines how deeply we are able to penetrate the obscurity that hides the secrets of matter from us. The body, in its entirety, was meant to become a coherent instrument of vision, an integrated, higher-order mind - some call it a "bodymind" or "mindbody" - integrating outer and inner, higher and lower. When we turn our gaze inward, as in most brands of meditation, and deploy and modulate our energy appropriately, we are able to observe that the space we normally associate with our body is alive with feelings, sensations and thoughts. Above all, it is a space for visualization. But for creative vision of some material reality to manifest within us, our inner "cyberspace" or "mindspace" has to become patterned and programmed with the intricacies of the phenomenon being contemplated and mimic it in all its characteristics and properties. In a virtual sense, through its projection of the observed phenomenon within ourselves, we must "become" the phenomenon if we are to reveal the inner secrets of its makeup and be able to use it optimally for the benefit of man.
Extrapolation We must be able to see from above, as it were, the unique set of circumstances that constitute the being of the phenomenon under consideration and how it connects to other phenomena that are the adjacent components of the larger reality. The closest to this kind of seeing or "accelerated thought" is called, in the world of computers, "massive parallel processing." In the absence of this ultimate effort of meditation/observation and the higher perspective it provides, we are condemned to see only tiny parts of the whole, painstakingly piecing together clues - the isolated parts of the "reality puzzle" that we stumble upon. To compensate for the poor quality of our attention, we develop extensions for our senses such as microscopes and telescopes, and for the poor quality of our thought, devices such as computers. These serve very much like crutches and, like any artificial support that helps us substitute for effort, they tend to reconcile us to our tendencies to self-indulgence and perpetuate them. Worse, they divert us away from considering the kinds of efforts for which we were created and the discoveries to which they would lead. Extrapolative vision (Accelerated Thought) can be far more penetrating and revealing than any microscope, telescope or particle accelerator[3]. This is also one way to explain the accuracy with which the cosmologies of certain ancient traditions tend to anticipate modern, scientific discoveries. Back to contents Candidates We seek candidates already substantially predisposed towards Accelerated Thought - those who during their lifetimes have had fairly frequent Eureka experiences and, in some rare cases, even short bouts of Accelerated Thought. True individuals - those of extraordinary courage and integrity who show a proclivity towards intensely independent, original thought, despite the crushing pressure of convention and conformity - will be the first to make use of the uniquely supportive environment that Project Mind will offer. The pioneers of Accelerated Thought will be those whose adult integrity and force of individuality has been built upon the act of heroic courage, in childhood, to say "the emperor is naked," and who sustained their belief in the utopian vision of fairy tales. They carry within them a profound, often inarticulate faith that things are not at all as they seem, and that a bright clear vision of existence could free us from the aimless and confining routine that life in society usually offers. For psychologically obvious reasons, they dare not admit, often even to themselves, that they aspire to a fairy-tale world where virtue and evil are extant for all to see, and where virtue must always prevail. Generally speaking, creative individuals, in fighting to preserve their independence of spirit, find they must sacrifice at least some of the comforts of conformity for an existence of relative social isolation. Such sacrifice affords them a corresponding measure of inner freedom. Very early in life, we are forced to compromise ourselves and our sense of what is right to conform to the dictates of those who wield authority. When we are very small, almost everyone is bigger and stronger than we are. Yet we all have had our moments of rebellion and personal heroism when we clung to some truth we cherished - some vision we valued - rather than sell out to the comfort of a warm, hypocritical, soul-sacrificing bath of communal acceptance. This is why such individualists are usually excluded from establishment situations, and especially from the higher echelons where conformity and political finesse are vital to professional survival. The main advantage in the ruggedly independent orientation of this self-assertive type is the audacity to follow intuitions and stick to his lights. In accelerated, or simply "creative" thought, the guide and master to whom one surrenders, is not another person but rather one's own destiny in the form of the deepest, most intimate and powerful desire one is able to release from essence. It is with this independent desire that Project Mind aligns itself and upon the authenticity of which it most depends. Back to contents Criteria
Early candidates for Project Mind will, of necessity, have gained considerable mastery over their chosen field of endeavor or at least in areas pertinent to those of nature's secrets they wish to penetrate with Accelerated Thought. As already indicated, these candidates will, also, be exceptionally disposed towards creative thought, although most, through caution and common sense, will have avoided venturing solo very far into the normally forbidden territory of Accelerated Thought. This avoidance has its roots in the very valid fear, conscious or unconscious, of the psychologically harmful consequences of pushing themselves unprotected beyond certain limits of thought saturation. Passing from any given mode of functioning to any other means altering one's inner state of dynamic equilibrium, implying an intermediate state of imbalance - a delicate, even precarious, indeterminate point between the old and the new.
